Best New Features of SAP IBP 2205

It’s spring time again! The birds are migrating back to their summer homes, trees and flowers are blooming, and Supply Chains are becoming more complex and experiencing more challenges than ever before. While it may be a rough time for those of us with seasonal allergies, it’s a great time to explore some of the new functionality released as a part of the SAP IBP 2205 Integrated Business Planning (IBP) quarterly upgrade. Now let’s get some fresh lemonade, dust off our patio furniture, and explore some of our favorite enhancements here at SCMC.

1.      External Partner Data Sharing Additions

In the world of global supply chains, external partner sharing has become more popular than ever before. Data sharing is a crucial part of this process. IBP and the web portal that can be used to share data with suppliers, customers, and other external partners are constantly being improved. The latest improvement is that now up to 30 custom key figures are now supported. These key figures can be sent to a provider data sharing plan or SAP Ariba.

2. Visual Basic Template Enhancements

SAP IBP templates can be created for the Excel Add-in and utilize underlying Visual Basic code to provide flexibility and features. In the SAP IBP 2205 version, users can now add custom code that adds even more functionality. Examples are:

  •          Measuring System Performance of Templates and Favorites

  •          Changing Master Data Directly from Planning Views

  •          Show Underlying Master Data for Attributes in Planning Views

SAP has even gone as far as providing code samples to help create a foundation. Now, an even larger set of business processes and requirements can now be accommodated with the enhanced development capability.

3.      Job Scheduling Recommendations

Creating a schedule can be a task, whether it be with friends, family, work, or automated jobs within a system. No longer. Choosing a time to run application jobs in IBP has never been easier. Now a part of the scheduling process, the system can show other scheduled jobs and where gaps exist. Now users won’t have to worry about accidentally scheduling parallel jobs. This can also help optimize scheduling during off-hours to minimize effects on users trying to utilize the system.

4.      Sourcing Location Optimization

Multisource is a very common way to mitigate risks, save money, or shorten lead times across networks. The SAP IBP optimizer will take into account quota ratios for locations, customers, or production in your network. Previously, this was uploaded or maintained in IBP. New with 2205, there is now an S&OP operator profile that will calculate the ideal sourcing ratio. These calculated ratios can then be used as inputs for subsequent optimizer and heuristic runs.

5.      Change History Export to for External Systems

Many companies use external systems to track changes across the organization. This allows for greater visibility for change management, metric tracking, and organizational synergy.  With the SAP IBP 2205 upgrade, change history data can now be exported using OData and API. You can export records relating to analytics, effects, and original changes.  The exports can then be uploaded to an external system for analyzing, reporting, or compiling for visibility.

These are just 5 of our favorite enhancements with the 2205 upgrade. There are many other exciting new features that didn’t make the list but may be able to help make your business more efficient. If you have any questions about the upgrade, IBP in general, supply chain processes, and more; we are always excited to hear from you.
